IDF Completes Handover of Jericho

Yesterday I posted about the delayed handover of Jericho. The IDF completed it and now the Palestinians of Jericho govern themselves. You can read about it in this Ha'aretz article.

May peace prevail.

Good News Morning re Israel

Hello. Today seems to be a good news day for Israel (may this continue to be so). Israeli troups turned over control of Jericho to the Palestinians (with Tulkaram, Qalqiya and Bethlehem on the short list for future cities) and the effort to remove Syria from Lebanon moves forward. (Now we just need to do something about Hizbollah.)

Here are some net sources:
Ha'artez, "Israel to Hand Over Jericho Today"
New York Times, "Lebanon Flag Is Hoisted as Syrians Slip Away"
BBC (with its usual viewpoint), "Israel begins handover of Jericho"

UPDATE: Ha'aretz "Jericho handover delayed at last minute"

Another Post on the Siyyum & Study

More and more women are engaging in serious Torah study. Quite a few are even participating in daf yomi.

The Jerusalem Post has a story on women studying daf yomi and the controversy and various opinions which this issue raises.

Study Resources

In honor of today's siyyum of the 7-year cycle of daf yomi (daily study of a page of Talmud) I am posting some new links for Torah study. They appear in this post and in the margin where appropriate. (Thanks to Temple Sholom in Eau Clarie for many of the links.)
